TO ALL AND SINGULAR to whom these Presents shall come Sir Alexander Colin Cole Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order upon whom has been conferred the Territorial Decoration Garter Principal King of Arms Sir Anthony Richard Wagner Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order Clarenceux King of Arms and John Philip Brooke-Little Esquire Commander of the Royal Victorian Order Norroy and Ulster King of Arms Send Greetings. Whereas Conrad Marshall John Fisher Swan Esquire Commander of the Royal Victorian Order Doctor of Philosophy of the University of Cambridge Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London York Herald of Arms in Ordinary and Registrar of Her Majesty's College of Arms hath represented unto The Most Noble Miles Francis Stapleton Duke of Norfolk Knight of the Most Noble Order of the Garter Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire upon whom has been conferred the Decoration of the Military Cross Earl Marshal and Hereditary Marshal of England that the Corporation of Her Majesty's Kings Heralds and Pursuivants of Arms was by Letters Patent under the hands and Seals of Garter Clarenceux and Norroy and Ulster Kings of Arms bearing date the Eighteenth of July 1971 granted and assigned a certain Device or Badge and being now desirous of having a further Device or Badge granted and assigned and appointed unto it under lawful authority and the same duly recorded in Her Majesty's College of Arms he as Registrar of the said College of Arms and on behalf of the said Corporation hath requested the favour of His Graces Warrant for Our granting and assigning such further Device or Badge as We deem suitable to be borne and used by the Corporation of Her Majesty's Kings Heralds and Pursuivants of Arms on Standards or otherwise and with the leave and licence of the Kings of Arms first had and obtained to be used & displayed by such individual persons in law bodies politic associations companies confraternities guilds institutions or other groups or organisations recognised by the Kings of Arms as are qualified in such respect of their connection with or their being well affected to the College of Arms always provided that such use and display of the said Device or Badge of the Corporation of the College of Arms is conformable to the practices of heraldry and in accordance with the Law of Arms And forasmuch as the said Earl Marshal did by Warrant under his hand and Seal bearing date the Nineteenth day of November 1986 authorize and direct Us to grant and assign such Device or Badge accordingly Know Ye therefore that We the said Garter Clarenceux and Norroy and Ulster in pursuance of His Grace's Warrant and by virtue of the Letters patent of Our several Offices granted by The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty to each of Us respectively do by these presents grant and assign unto the said Corporation of Her Majesty's Kings Heralds and Pursuivants of Arms the Device or Badge following that is to say:– Standing erect upon a grassy Mound Or a Lion guardant Argent gorged with a Ducal Coronet Or and supporting with the forepaw a Spear Gold headed Argent flowing therefrom to the sinister a Banner of the Corporation of Her Majesty's Kings Heralds and Pursuivants of Arms as the same is in the margin hereof more plainly depicted to be borne and used for ever hereafter by the Corporation of Her Majesty's Kings Heralds and Pursuivants of Arms according to the Laws of Arms In witness whereof We the said Garter Clarenceux and Norroy and Ulster have to these Presents subscribed Our names and affixed the Seals of Our several Offices this Twenty-fifth day of September in the Thirty-sixth year of the Reign of Our Sovereign Lady Elizabeth the Second by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of Her other Realms and Territories Queen Head of the Commonwealth Defender of the Faith and in the year of Our Lord One thousand nine hundred and eighty-eight.
