| Text | "In the Name of God, Amen. I Edward Holt of Cradley in the County of Worcester yeoman, being in health and of sound Mind and Memory Doe make this My Will in Manner following First I give to My Daughters Anna Briscoe, Sarah Brettell, Mary Mishell & Elizabeth Tibbetts One Shilling each Also I give to my Eldest Son Joseph Holt one Shilling. Alsoe I give & Devise to my Dear wife Elizabeth during her life all that my Freehold Estate at Hay Green in the parish of Oldswinford in the said County of Worcester consisting of two Dwellinghouses now in the holding of John Parkes & John Hill, And after her decease, I give & Devise the same unto my Son Edward Holt his heirs & assignes for ever And whereas I am seized of a Copyhold or Customary Estate of Inheritance in Cradley aforesaid which I have surrender'd to the use of My Will Now I doe hereby give & devise all my said Copyhold or Customary Estate unto my said Wife during her life And after her Decease, I give and Devise the same to such Child or Children of her body by me begotten and for such Estate or Estates and in such Manner as my said Wife by Deed or Will shall appoint And for want thereof To my aid Wife Elizabeth her heirs and assignes for ever according to the Custom of the said Manor And as to all my household Goods, Cattle, Chattells, Stock in Trade, Debts to me owing, and all other my personall Estate whatsoever & wheresoever I give & bequeath to my said Wife Elizabeth she paying my Debts and Funerall Expenses, And I appoint my said Wife Elizabeth to be Executrix of this My Will, hereby revoking all former wills by me made In Witness whereof I have hereunto putt my hand and seal this Seventh Day of August Anno D[omi]ni 1756 — Edward Holt Signed Sealed Published and Declared by the said Edward Holt to be his Will in the presence of us, Who in his sight & at his request subscribed our names as Witnesses hereto. John Ingram Edmund Chambers Jacob Smith 27th March 1767. Elizabeth Holt the sole Extrix appeard personally & was then sworn in com[m]on form of Law before me Tho. Miles Surrogate." | |
