Gown GuideSelwyn CollegeThis is the basic gown with facings of dark blue rayon. It is the only Cambridge gown which is black and trimmed with blue material. (Trinity and Caius have undergraduates gowns which are blue and trimmed with black; the colleges which are mainly postgraduate – Darwin, Wolfson, Clare Hall, Lucy Cavendish, St. Edmund's, Hughes Hall – have gowns which are black and trimmed with blue cords and buttons.) The undergraduate gown at the University of Reading is also black with blue facings but with shorter sleeves and no forearm slit. (It is based on the Oxford scholar's gown rather than the Cambridge undergraduate gown.) Drawing from Academical Dress of British and Irish Universities, G.W.
